Birth and Baby Reality have partnered with Wideawake training to provide a Baby First Aid Foundation Course. This hands-on first aid course is designed to provide you with constructive advice and instruction as to what to do in a range of medical emergencies and childhood illnesses. We hope that by attending this course you will have peace of mind that you will know what to do should you be faced with a problem.
The course is 3 hours in length and will include cover the following:
• responding to a non-responsive baby
• resuscitation and CPR
• head injury
• burns / scalds
• childhood injuries and illnesses
The course is £45 per couple, babes in arms are welcome to come with you. This course is also suitable if you are pregnant. This cost includes a course book.

Further Information on Wideawake Training
Wideawake Training is a small Warwick based company which was formed in October 2011 by the husband and wife team of Nick and Sally Shacklock. In addition to Nick and Sally the company works with a group of fully qualified First Aid and Water Activities instructors all of whom are local to the Warwick / Kenilworth area.
Wideawake training provides contract First Aid Training to Marks and Spencer staff in the South Midlands (through the national contractor Ashbury Training) and works closely with several other local / Birmingham based companies to deliver First Aid at work and Paediatric First Aid courses in Warwickshire and the Birmingham area. We also offer these services directly to local businesses and to voluntary organisations such as scouts.
We are an approved Royal Yachting Association Training Centre, and as such deliver both water activities / offshore related First Aid Training and training in Navigation and VHF operation.
Sally also provides a Locum Community Pharmacist service and support to local Pharmacy technicians in completing coursework. She also runs the one day National Pharmacy Association course in medicines Management for Care homes.
Nick has a degree in Physiology and has been involved as a workplace and first aider for over 30 years. He is a 'serial volunteer', and has served 24 years as an officer in the Territorial Army (emerging as Territorial Advisor to the Engineer in Chief). For the past 14 years he has been involved in local scouting including stints as District Commissioner and County Training Manager. Nick was a senior member of the water safety team for the 21st World Scout Jamboree which hosted 40,000 young people in Essex. He chairs the Warwick District branch of the Ambulance Service Community First Responders and responds 999 calls for the service during days off!!!
Sally is a community Pharmacist who works in a wide range of local Pharmacies (mainly for the Dudley Taylor Group). Sally has also been involved in Scouting for about 16 years and she too was involved in the 21st World Scout Jamboree as a medic and has attended many large camps as the custodian of the sick parade.
